Sports and PE

Every school wants its children to be fit and active.  Here at Rockclffe we we have gone further to ensure that all of your children enjoy their sport.  We offer a range of sporting activities that are designed to encourage even the most reluctant athlete.

Children have at least two hours of PE per week. At least one session is taught by a specialist sports coach, whilst the other hour can be taught by the class teacher, a sprts coach, swimming instructor or by a member of staff from Trinity School's PE Department.  This varies during the year.

All of the children are taught to swim during their time at the school with swimming lessons for all children from Years 1 to 5.  We also run a booster swim during the summer to catch children up who otherwise would find swimming a challenge.

Each day we offer a further thirty minuutes of structured activity with our lunchtime sports.  led by the midday sports leader, Miss Barclay, children have the option of playing and developing a range of sport.  This takes place on the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) and has included football, netball, cricket, hockey, tennis, rounders, tri-golf, mini athletics and more.

We also offer a range of after-school PE opportunities during the year.  This includes football, tag-rugby, rounders, multi-sports, gymnastics and tennis.

Every two years we also offer skiing to children in Years 5 and 6.  This is always popular.
