Arctic Adventures!

It’s getting chilly in class three this half term as we all head off on an Arctic Adventure!

Our English work will centralise around the quality text Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. We’ll be developing our inference skills during our reading work by exploring how the characters feel throughout the story. In writing, we’ll be applying bullet points and commas as we write lists to help us to pack for our adventure. We’ll also be using the story to inspire our own Arctic narrative.

In geography, we’ll be exploring the Arctic Circle and looking at the countries that are located there. We’ll be looking at weather patterns across the world and how the equator impacts a countries temperature. We’ll be relating this back to our knowledge of the Kalahari Desert thanks to our work last term with Sunny the meerkat.

During art, we’ll be taking our inspiration from the Northern Lights in order to produce pastel drawings and also be reading Snowmen at Night to inspire some artwork.

In our history learning, we’ll be exploring how the Inuit lifestyle has changed over time and examine famous Arctic explorers to inspire us on amazing adventure. We’ll also be looking at the significance of Remembrance Day and why it’s important to us.

In science, we’ll also be looking at seasonal changes and weather patterns.

Keep a look out on our website for news and updates as we journey on our amazing adventure.
